A WELCOME TO ALL MEMBERS TO THE 2008 / 2009 SEASON

We will commence our beach season from Sunday, 19th October 2008 (the weekend after the October school holidays) to Sunday, 5 April 2009.

Patrols and structured beach activities will be conducted at San Remo beach each Sunday, unless otherwise informed.  Patrol hours will be from 9.00am to 12.00noon.

In addition, fortnightly on a Friday, there will be Fitness and Skills Training for all members who wish to develop their skills.

Check out the Events Calendar for other important events.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Every Sunday, just before activities commence, there will be a quick meeting on the beach for any instructions or new information that needs to be relayed.

Occasionally, after Sunday morning activities, families are encouraged to join in the social atmosphere of the sausage sizzle, which is held on the beach. There are many social events scheduled that you may like to participate in, please see the Club Calendar (on the web site) and Club notice boards.

JUNIOR ACTIVITIES

Junior activities are scheduled to start at 9.30am to 10.30am. This includes set-up and pack away time.  All juniors are eligible for the title of surf champion in their respective sex and age group at the end of the season.  We will also be involved in some inter-club carnivals and hopefully have members competing in these carnivals this season. If your child is unable to attend Sunday activities, please notify your Age Group Manager.

“To assist your Age Group Managers we would ask that everybody be on the beach at 9:15am so we can start by 9:30am”

Members under 16yrs of age must be signed in and out by a parent or guardian.  It is important to sign in and out, as this goes towards individual points that will be tallied at the end of the season.

Once signed in and you have collected your age group cap, wait in your muster area for your Age Group Manager (near the flag that is the same colour as your club cap). Children, you should have already applied sunscreen, be wearing bathers, a rash shirt and your club cap. You should also have a drink for yourself. If you require medication, in case of emergency, you must bring it with you and advise your Age Group Manager, where it will be located and who can administer it.

After activities have finished, you must return your cap and be signed out.  Should you lose your cap, please inform your Age Group Manager.

Please note, at the end of Junior/Cadet structured activities, children are allowed free play time and may utilize club equipment except PATROL or EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT. However, great care is to be taken with all our equipment to prevent damage or injury to members, especially with the fiberglass boards.

“We ask that parents help their children to look after and respect our equipment please”

Parental involvement is critical for the continued successful operation of the Club - please support the Age Group Managers and the Club in any way you can - your assistance with Sunday morning activities is especially appreciated.

SENIOR ACTIVITIES

After the Junior Activities have ended at 10.30am, senior activities commence. All members are welcome to have a go.  At 11.30am, beach activities finish and all members help to pack away.

We are actively seeking sponsorship.  Our Club relies on fundraising, grants and of course memberships to keep us viable.  All of this goes towards keeping our equipment updated and making sure we keep ourselves up to date with surf awareness and education.  If you think you can be of any assistance in any way, please advise the President or Marketing & Public Relations Officer.

Mandurah Surf Life Saving Club is a totally volunteer organisation; our continued success relies on the generosity and support of all members.
